Of course, if you prefer in-shop service, we also have a physical service center (storefront) on Edmonton’s south side (99 Street & 51 Ave) where we can cut keys, showcase products, and perform services. Essentially, we’re set up to help you in whatever way is most convenient: at your door or in our store.
Yes, absolutely. All of our locksmith technicians are fully licensed by the Alberta Solicitor General (each carries an official locksmith license ID). Absolutely. We can cut and program new car keys, transponder keys, and key fobs, even if you’ve lost all your originals. Alberta Lock Solid’s technicians have the equipment to originate and duplicate keys for most makes and models of cars and trucks. In fact, basic electronic transponder keys start at about $79.95, and high-security “sidewinder” car keys start around $99.95 for most models. We handle everything from standard chip keys to remote key fobs. Our convenient Edmonton service centre is equipped for automotive key cutting and programming, or we can come to you with our mobile unit to make you a new key on the spot. (Tip: We always advise having a spare key made to avoid emergencies.)
We can handle almost any vehicle – not just cars. Alberta Lock Solid has expertise with locks and keys for cars, SUVs, pickup trucks, motorcycles, RVs, boats, trailers, and more. Our locksmiths are familiar with recreational and specialty vehicles as well. For example, we can repair or replace locks on an RV or camper, ATV or boat. We even carry heavy-duty locking devices for things like trailer hitches, construction equipment, and cargo containers. So, whether it’s your family minivan or a forklift at a job site, if it has a lock, we likely service it!
Residential
Yes, we can. Getting locked out of your home can happen to anyone, and our residential locksmiths are on call 24/7 to assist. We will dispatch a professional to your house quickly (we cover all of Edmonton and nearby areas). Our technician can usually pick the lock or otherwise open your door without damage, letting you back inside safely. Alberta Lock Solid provides 24-hour emergency home lockout service because we know these things don’t always happen during business hours. Just give us a call, any time, and we’ll help you regain access to your home as soon as possible. (Note: For your security, the locksmith may ask for ID or proof of residence prior to entry.)
Great question. We always recommend rekeying your locks when you move into a new house (the sooner, the better). Rekeying a lock means changing the internal pins so that the old keys will no longer work, and a new key will operate the lock instead. This is usually more affordable than replacing the entire lock and ensures that only you and anyone you trust have keys to your new home. Our locksmiths can rekey all the locks in your house to a new key in one visit. However, if your existing locks are worn out or if you want an upgrade (for example, to a smart lock or high-security lock), then replacing might be the better option. We are happy to assess your situation and either rekey your current locks or install new locks or deadbolts if needed. The priority is that you feel secure in your new home, without any unknown spare keys floating around.
Absolutely. Our team can install any kind of residential lock you need, from standard deadbolts to electronic keyless entry systems (smart locks) that use keypads or smartphone access. We also specialize in high-security locks for homes – these locks are pick-resistant and come with keys that can’t be easily duplicated without authorization. Whether you need to add a deadbolt to an exterior door, install a smart lock on your front door, or upgrade to bump-proof, high-security door locks, our technicians can handle it. We carry a wide range of quality residential locks (we have hundreds of products on display in our showroom for you to choose from). Not sure what you need? We’re happy to consult and recommend the best solutions to improve your home security.
Commercial
We provide a full range of commercial locksmith services to keep your business secure. This includes commercial lock repairs and replacements, office rekeying, installation of new locks and deadbolts, and setting up master key systems for convenient yet controlled access management. We are Commercial Door and Storefront Gate specialists – our team can service and install door hardware like door closers, panic bars (crash bars), and even security shutters or gates for storefronts. If a door isn’t closing right or a lock is malfunctioning at your business, one call to Alberta Lock Solid will solve the problem properly and with integrity (we’ve been helping Edmonton companies since 1999).
Yes, we can design and implement a master key system tailored to your business. A master key system allows you to have a hierarchy of keys for your building. For example, you (the owner or manager) could have one master key that opens every door, while employees have individual keys that only open the doors you permit. We will configure your existing locks (or install new compatible locks) to work on a system where one master key controls multiple locks, and sub-keys work for specific subsets of doors. This is very useful for offices, apartment complexes, schools, etc., where different people need different levels of access. Our locksmiths have extensive experience setting up master key systems, ensuring that convenience doesn’t compromise security. We’re happy to discuss your building’s layout and create a plan that keeps your property secure while simplifying key management for you.
Definitely. We offer modern access control solutions such as keyless entry systems for commercial clients. If you prefer using access cards, key fobs, or keypad codes instead of traditional keys at your office, we can help. We are familiar with the latest electronic locks and card access systems for businesses. Our team can install standalone keyless locks (e.g., coded push-button locks for doors) or more advanced networked access control systems, depending on your needs. Keyless entry can provide great convenience and security – for instance, you can easily manage codes or access cards for employees and never worry about lost keys. We’ll work with you to implement a system that fits your facility and budget. After installation, we also support and service these systems, so you’re never locked out (even if the power goes out, we’ll make sure you have a backup method!).
Security Products & Specialty Services
A fog security system is a cutting-edge theft deterrent that rapidly fills a room with a dense, harmless fog during a break-in. The idea is that if an intruder triggers the alarm, the fog system activates and creates an instant wall of smoke-like fog, reducing visibility to near zero. The thief can’t see what they’re doing, which stops them from stealing items and usually scares them off quickly. Yes, Alberta Lock Solid offers fog security systems as part of our product lineup. We can install these systems in your home or business for an added layer of protection. The fog is safe (non-toxic and leaves no residue) and dissipates after a short time. It’s an excellent solution for businesses with high-value merchandise or for homeowners who want active crime prevention beyond a traditional alarm. If you’re interested in a Fog Security System, we’d be happy to demonstrate how it works and discuss if it’s right for your property.
Yes, we do – in fact, high-security locks are one of our specialties. High-security locks are locks designed to be pick-resistant and drill-resistant, and they use keys that are difficult or impossible to duplicate without authorization. Alberta Lock Solid carries several trusted high-security lock brands (for example, we are dealers for Mul-T-Lock). These systems use patented key control, meaning we, as the locksmith, must verify identification and authorization before making copies of your keys, so you retain complete control over who has keys to your property. If you’re looking to upgrade to high-security locks – whether for your home or business – we can recommend solutions that fit your needs. Our technicians are highly experienced with these locks (you could say we’re “High Security Specialists”), and we can install and maintain them to greatly improve your security.
Yes. We sell a variety of safes, and we can also assist if you are locked out of a safe. At our Edmonton showroom, we have large displays of safes (as well as padlocks, keyless locks, and other security products) for customers to browse. This includes small home safes, fireproof document safes, gun safes, and larger commercial safes. We’ll help you choose the right type and size of safe for your needs and budget. If you ever find yourself locked out of your safe – for instance, if you forget the combination or the safe malfunctions – our certified locksmiths can come out to perform a safe opening. We use specialized techniques to open safes with minimal damage. Additionally, we can change safe combinations, supply replacement keys for safes (if applicable), and service safe lock mechanisms. Safe work requires expertise, and our team has the knowledge to handle it safely and discreetly.
Absolutely. Alberta Lock Solid carries a wide variety of padlocks and specialty locks to secure just about anything. You’ll find everything from standard padlocks for everyday use to very large heavy-duty padlocks for commercial or industrial applications. We also stock specialty locking devices – for example, vehicle and equipment locks like trailer hitch locks, steering wheel locks (clubs), padlocks for shipping containers, and locks for construction machinery. In fact, we have “lots of ways to lock up your car, truck, RV, boat, trailer hitch, etc,” and a full line of heavy-duty locking devices for things like skid-steer loaders and job site trailers. If it needs securing, chances are we have a lock for it. Our showroom showcases hundreds of security products you can see in person, and our staff is happy to help you find the perfect locking solution for your needs – be it a tiny luggage padlock or a giant high-security padlock for a warehouse door.
Yes, we offer engraving services at our shop. Engraving is a handy service for making custom identification on keys, plaques, tags, and more. Many of our customers like to engrave their keys or key tags (for example, labeling keys for different doors or properties), and we can usually do this for you same day. We have the proper engraving equipment on-site, so we can engrave names, numbers, or short messages on metal, wood or plastic items. Common uses for our engraving service include pet ID tags, name plates for offices or houses, and engraving serial numbers or owner info on valuable items for identification. If you have a specific engraving request, just let us know – we’ll do our best to accommodate it. It’s just one more convenient service we provide to meet all your security needs under one roof.
